Blog # 7 STD'S

Being promiscuous is not the only way you can get ST D'S. Oral herpes can be caused by kissing and kissing is way to show affection to somebody you like or love yes, its a wonderful thing, but it is an easy way to transmit herpes like a respiratory cold. They usually cause cold sores and and fever blisters simply caused by a viral infection. This is called Herpes Simplex they always reoccur, the symptoms are itching, and tingling, which are opened blisters and leave open sores. Herpes infections are very common and 80-90% of American adults have oral herpes. Although there is not a cure for herpes, there is an approritate to control the virus. This virus can be transmitted by using the same utensils, or sharing a toothbrush. This can be caught early childhood by giving affectionate kisses by family members. next time you decide to kiss, do a visual inspection of those lips you are about kiss.

Blog # 6 Prenatal Testing

Every parents first child greatly anticipates the outcomes the prenatal testing. Being first time parent we always wonder if it going to be a boy or girl. As our own personal decision testing can always influence us as to what kind of screening needs to be done. This kind of testing will help identify the health problems that could endanger you and the baby. Prenatal testing are done for women 35 and older, adolescents, have had a premature baby, carrying more than one, and ethnic background. Testing is done trimesters of pregnancy. This can be very educational and beneficial to the development and proper care of the fetus. Prenatal testing are preformed for these reasons. Being a young girl becomes vulnerable of contracting STD's and other health problems. Many older women that are becoming pregnant later in life have a higher risk of complications and birth defects. Reasons why prenatal testing is important because early detection of treating the prior health problems of a mother might have; can effect the baby. Next the characteristics of the baby can determine the baby's sex, gender, age and size and placement int the uterus. Some of the prenatal testing can reveal the possibility of the problem and others can detect the diagnostic of a degree to certain degree of a certain problem in the fetus. It can also detect fetal abnormalities, including heart problems and to further detection it would have to be a diagnostic test. I think that it is very important the women and young girls get tested regularly. For women that don't have a doctor or health insurance should at least go to the health department to get tested and get a check up. At the end the baby is here because of our decision.

Mentall Illness/ Autistic Children

I lived in Indiana for 3 years. My boys at the time were in Elementary. I started volunteering at their school. I remember the first time they needed me was to help in the special programs class. This class was ranging from Kindergarten to 5th grade. I was not sure what I was about to get myself into. I remember walking into class and the students just stared at me. I was working with the Autistic, handicapp and mental illness children. I began there as a volunteer, I soon got accepted to work as a full time assistant teacher. Yes this was a challenging class for me to work in, but in there shoes it was a challenge for them to work with me. Getting to know and understand the students, as well as the students getting to know me. I remember sometimes going home and just crying because it was such a challenge, and I wanted to quite, but I could not let those kids down, they needed me just as much as I needed them they became a very big part of me. I would actually miss them on the weekend or when we had extended vacations. They taught me so much.... lot's of patience, love, admiration, kindness. These people are true to themselves, and unique in their own special way. They are who they are.
The biggest challenge for me was trying to teach autistic children that it was okay to do something different. Not everything had to be the same. They students that I worked with were not able to talk, some did sign language and some used hand gestures to get their message across. They are VERY SMART children.

Surrogacy

I became really good friends with a co-worker of mine. When we first me we it was like we had known each other forever. She was working in a office for a Cardiologist. I had gone in to apply for a receptionist position, I remember walking in and and she asked me right off, are you applying for the receptionist position "yes I am I". She said don't bother I am the one that will determine if I want you to be sitting next to me the doctor always ask me what my opinion is. I got hired on the spot.
As time passed we became very good friends. She told that she had married her high school sweetheart, and had been married for 10 years. I thought that was awesome. We were 26 years old. I mentioned to her that I just had a baby and had a 4 year old. This is when she came out and told me that was unable to have children. She suffered with Edometriosis, and had a hard time getting pregnant and staying pregnant. She also had to suffer with the miscarriage which she did a couple of times with in two to three months into her pregnancy. She also informed me that Invetro fertilization was another option but expensive. Me being "fertile myrtle" or just drinking the waters as people say I could get pregnant easily. Prior to me having my second child I had a miscarriage, I was three months pregnant. So in a sense I new her sadness and frustration of having a miscarriage, being so difficult for her to get pregnant. I asked her if they ever thought of adopting they said that wanted one of their own, but that was the last alternative if it came to not ever being able to carry. Then I asked her what she thought about surrogate mothers, she said that if they had never considered it, but maybe. I put myself out there and I let her know that I would become a surrogate mother for them. She was surprised that I would have said that. I told her that I meant it, and I would do that for them, its not that I wanted the money or even thought about them paying me for it. I wanted them to complete their life and wanted them to have a child of their own. I wanted to give them the gift of life. All three of us had several conversations and they new that I was very willing and serious of being there surrogate mother. They decided that they were going to wait, that maybe it was not time for them to be parents. I let them know that when and if they ever needed me I would be at their side.
Years have passed I got married and moved to Indianapolis. We still kept in contact. She informed she had stopped the medications and she had two Invetro's done, and was unsuccessful. They stopped trying a couple of years later they finally got pregnant and were blessed with a baby girl of their own.
I think that it is a blessing for couples to meet women that are willing to be a surrogate mother.
We all have a purpose in life and we are here for a reason, why not share your life, and gifts with other people, isn't that why we are here?

Eating Disorders

I have worked with a someone that had a eating disorder. When I first met her, she stared at me, and stated that I was skinny, but my reaction when I first saw her was that she was much thinner than I am buy a long shot. We eventually starting hanging out at lunch, we would order hamburgers, french fries, and a soda pop. Of course, I would eat mine and she would eat hers then I noticed that she would go to the bathroom. Eventually one day I was in the bathroom and she was unaware that I was in the next stall. I was upset that she would torture her body that way. I came out the same time she did, and she knew that I knew what she was doing. I just looked at her and asked her if I could help her out in anyway, and she stated " I am okay,I will be alright". Needless to say we never had lunch again. If she would have given me a chance, I would have listened to her and helped her out any possible way. Yes,I love to eat, and i do exercise regularly. My guy friends state that they like to see hips rather than no shape at all.

Blog #3

My feelings toward the present state of heath care is a priviledge. I work in Medicare and Medicaid field, so I hear happy and angry members that call. I think that some members don't realize that having some kind of insurance is a priviledge. Members call because they are searching to get information of what programs, medical equipment, transportation, or programs that what will benefit them form going into a living facility. Educating our members and leading them towards their necessity is our main priority . Members don't realize that is mandated by the state to have Medicare and Medicaid and they are limited to certain health care that will be paid by the State or SSI. Many programs are out their that provide funding based on what level they have. My concern is that I hope we still have some of the programs out there for us when we become elderly.
