Assigment 1

The health issues that concerns me is obesity, or just over weight people. I work in the health industry. I am not sure where to even start on this. I work with women that are always complaining about there weight, but they never seem to stop and see what and how much they eat. They always ask me how I stay thin and eat all day. It is self discipline and self esteem. Being outside, taking the kids , dogs for a walk at the park. I always see on the news, on the Internet, magazines, " How to loose weight", "The new diet", "How to loose 10 ponds in a month"? Just the other day I saw an article via Internet for the first time, I saw " Steps on How do skinny people stay skinny"? I went on the read to read the article it was true. It is our way of thinking. Limit yourself on your servings, stay active, eat 5 meals a day, don't eat all your food on your plate, workout. Everything that it said was how I think when it comes to staying thin.

I interviewed my boyfriend Jeff age 41. He is a white male and overweight. He stated that he would love to be thin again. He loves to eat,and all the bad things too. Once in a while he does eat healthy if it is giving to him, or if it an option at that moment. Another factor is that he smokes. He is concerned, but no self- discipline. He has 3 girls, ages 18, 6, 4. The girls would love to see him stop smoking, and loose weight. His concern is not living long enough to see his little one get married.

I interviewed my aunt Janie age 55. She is a Hispanic female. She works 3 jobs from 2:45 a.m til 9:30 p.m. She stated that she loves to eat, and can not stop eating. Between the 3 jobs it is very convenient for her to stop at a drive- thru, and take it home to eat,and take a 30 minute nap. She before she goes to her next job. She states that she does not think she will ever thin again. Her son is getting married in May and she wants to loose some weight.

Yes, I am Hispanic, and it is very hard to stay thin. My mother said to me once" Once you get to a certain age it is hard you to loose weight." I am self disciplined, but I also know that I am concerned with my weight at my age because my metabolism is not as high.
